You said, we delivered

When advising our clients across the world about how to effectively engage with their employees during a workplace change programme, we often talk about the ‘You said, we did’ feedback loop.

It’s pretty simple: if you don’t listen, communicate and demonstrate actions based on the employees’ feedback, they will stop engaging, and the connection is lost – response rates plummet, and the opportunity to understand the challenges employees face is diminished. However, if you show real intent and employees feel they’re being heard, you’ll see them engage actively, and your response rates will remain consistent or even increase the next time you ask for feedback.

We’ve been taking some of our own medicine lately and have conducted a lengthy and in-depth process of understanding our clients’ needs on a deeper level. A few themes emerged from these conversations:
  • Our clients seek the insightful data and independent, data-driven strategies we provide to navigate complexities effectively, but…
  • Deploying surveys successfully can be difficult; onboarding and deployment are tricky, and securing stakeholder buy-in can take time and effort. Also…
  • Our flagship Leesman Office survey, while robust, may be cost-prohibitive or unnecessarily comprehensive for smaller projects and may give more insights than the architects, workplace consultants, landlords, and building operators need.
  • In response, we have developed Leesman Essentials, a new workplace assessment tool derived from the world’s most widely adopted workplace survey methodology. Designed to be as lightweight and streamlined as possible while still providing the magic that Leesman has to offer:

An Lmi (Leesman’s unique workplace experience metric)
Access to the world’s largest independent benchmark on workplace experience
The ability to diagnose the what, as well as the why

We’ve reduced the length of the survey by making demographics optional, removing some of the mobility profiling tools and additional modules. To support pre-/post-occupancy assessments, we’ve still included the option to add limited additional questions to allow further interrogation on specific project-related topics, as well as incorporating a comments box for qualitative feedback, facilitating sentiment analysis.

The reporting is fully automated and quickly processed, and includes instant access to our Tableau analytics dashboards, so project teams can immediately start utilising the insights, even on tight schedules.

So, if you’re about to embark on a workplace project and want to leave out the guesswork on what you’re designing for, while also ensuring that the users of the space are engaged in the process, Leesman Essentials is the best way to give everyone a voice.

Designing effective survey questions is challenging, but interpreting the results without context is even harder.

Without the ability to reliably benchmark your results, you won’t know if your results are cause for celebration or concern. For instance, a 50% satisfaction score with noise levels might seem underwhelming, but it’s actually a great score, based on the Leesman benchmark. In contrast, 50% satisfaction with WiFi would be considered quite poor. That’s where Leesman’s benchmarking comes in: it transforms raw data into actionable insights.
